W3Schools is an e-learning - the website for tutorials and assistance in the field of web development and web design .
Functions
On the page, source code examples with explanations are shown free of charge in English, which can usually also be edited and executed interactively in a live editor. Other important code elements are hidden so that the user can focus on the code shown (developer sandbox ). The tutorials are divided into individual chapters on the development languages from which you can choose. In addition to the basics, certain advanced technologies (for example HTML5 or frameworks and program libraries ), graphic or application-related implementation options and examples, as well as a focus on individual elements of the programming language (so-called "references") can be learned, looked up and tried out. There is also a YouTube channel, which takes up and explains certain topics in web development, and an internet forum .
The languages HTML , CSS , JavaScript , JSON , PHP , AngularJS , SQL , Bootstrap , Node.js , jQuery , XQuery , Ajax , and XML are supported .
History and background
The site was first made public in 1998. The name is based on the World Wide Web and not to be confused with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The site is the largest web development website . It currently has a worldwide Alexa Internet rank of 187 and receives more than 10 million unique visits per month .
