The four-axle narrow-gauge railcar MEG T 15 was built in 1955 by the Fuchs company in Heidelberg - the Mittelbadische Eisenbahnen AG needed it for the Zell im Wiesental – Todtnau railway line .

history

After the closure of the Zell – Todtnau railway line in 1967, it was transferred to the main line to Schwarzach , but could only be used poorly due to its length. In 1968 it was sold to the Württembergische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft , where it was used as WEG T 35 on the Amstetten – Laichingen railway line . In 1976 he switched to Inselbahn Langeoog and was given the designation T 3 there . Finally, the railcar was taken over by the Harzer Schmalspurbahnen (HSB) in 1995 .

Technical details

Originally, there was a door on each of the two end faces to pass into the attached car. In 1972 it was removed on one side and an engine was also removed there. The second front door and the folding doors on one side were removed for use on Langeoog, as the platforms there were then only on one side of the track. Two new Büssing U11D engines were also installed for use on the island railway and the mechanical RENK gearbox was replaced by a hydromechanical differential converter gearbox of the VOITH 501 type.

After a renovation in the former Halberstadt raw material , it was fitted with pivoting sliding doors on both sides for use by the HSB. The car now has 48 seats and 40 standing places. In contrast to the current 187 011 and 013 , which were also taken over by Inselbahn Langeoog , the 187 012 - according to its current train number - can also be used as a tow car , since its second machine system has been put back into operation. The central split windscreen is characteristic of the vehicle. In the meantime, the railcar has also been retrofitted with the brake lights and signal bells required for limited use according to BOStrab . The railcar was mostly used on the Harzquerbahn - here the morning train pair 8901/8902 came into question - or on the Selketalbahn - here in circuit 895.

Since March 2015, the railcar has been at the vehicle works Miraustraße (FWM) in Hennigsdorf for fundamental overhaul .
