WHOW ("The Big 1520") is a US radio station based in Clinton , Illinois . The station transmits on the medium wave frequency 1520 k Hz . The clear channel stations WWKB and KOKC (AM) are dominant on this frequency .

WHOW started operations in 1947 with a 1 kW transmitter. A strong onset of winter in 2006 destroyed the transmitter mast and the station was “off-air” for days.
