WLS is a commercial talk radio station based in Chicago , Illinois . The conservative talk news format of the Clear Channel station can be received throughout the northeastern United States and southern Canada. WLS is now owned by Cumulus Media . The history of the station goes back to 1924. WLS was one of the first stations in the western United States and is one of the few that still broadcast today.

WLS Studios are located in the NBC Tower on North Columbus Drive in Chicago. The non-directional transmission antenna in the form of a self-radiating transmission tower is located in Tinley Park , Illinois.

WLS is still one of the few US stations to broadcast in C-QUAM- AM stereo. The WLS-AM program will also be broadcast as a simulcast on WLS-FM's HD2 subchannel .

Like KEX Portland, KFI Los Angeles, WABC-AM New York, WJR Detroit, KOA Denver and others, WLS Chicago is one of the most influential Clear Channel stations with enormous reach, all of which broadcast a conservative talk program. These stations, which are usually very traditional, are mostly owned by iHeartMedia and get their programs from Premiere Networks .
