Wmua-FM (also The Radio Voice of Umass ) is an American non-commercial radio station in Amherst in the US state of Massachusetts . WMUA-FM broadcasts on the VHF frequency 91.9 M Hz and is operated by the University of Massachusetts Amherst .

WMUA can be received in the Connecticut River Valley in western Massachusetts, northern Connecticut and southern Vermont , among others . The station is run by full-time students from the University of Massachusetts Amherst . Volunteers from the surrounding communities also support the operation of the radio station. The first broadcast was broadcast as cable radio in 1949 . The broadcast studios are located in the basement of the Murray D. Lincoln Campus Center .
