The WSG Verden (officially: Wehrmacht Sportgemeinschaft Verden ) was a sports club from Verden (Aller) . The soccer team played for a year in the then first-class Gauliga Osthannover .
history
The association was founded around 1940. Three years later, the team was included in the newly created Gauliga Osthannover. There, the people of Verden were overwhelmed by sport in the 1943/44 promotion season . They lost 1:10 at the war syndicate Bremerhaven 93 / Leher TS and even 3:15 at Cuxhavener SV . The only win of the season came at the green table , as Sparta Bremerhaven did not compete. In the 1944/45 season the Verden games against MSV Lüneburg and at Reichsbahn Lehrte had to be canceled due to travel difficulties. The games were counted as won for the respective home team. Then the championship was canceled due to the war. The association was later dissolved.
