The Gauliga Osthannover 1943/44 was the first season of the Gauliga Osthannover of the professional football department . It emerged as one of the successors of the Lower Saxony Gauliga alongside the South Hanover-Braunschweig Gauliga and the Weser-Ems Gauliga , but not until a year later. The Wehrmacht-Sportverein Celle , the MSV Lüneburg and Bremerhaven 93 came from the other Gauligen when the league was founded, the remaining participants came from the second-class district league. The Gauliga Osthannover was played this season with eight teams in a round- robin tournament . The Gau championship was secured by the WSV Nebeltruppe Celle and qualified for the German football championship in 1943/44 . There the club from Celle was eliminated in the first round after a 4-0 defeat away from the eventual finalist LSV Hamburg .
