The WSV Wendschott , as WSV Wolfsburg known is a sports club in Wolfsburg- Wendschott in Lower Saxony . He became known nationwide through his women's soccer team from 1996 to 2003.

history

In 1996 the successful women's soccer team of the insolvent VfR Eintracht Wolfsburg was incorporated into the WSV Wendschott. With a one-year break, the team played for this club in the Bundesliga . Then the team joined VfL Wolfsburg in 2003 because of the better marketing opportunities .

The men's soccer team of WSV Wendschott, which has played in the Wolfsburg district league since 2009 , and other teams and sections of the club were unaffected by this . Kevin Wolze from MSV Duisburg began his football career in a youth team at WSV Wendschott.

Standings at the end of the season

The women's soccer team achieved the following places:

  • 1996/97 season: 8th place in the Bundesliga North, no qualification for the one-piece Bundesliga
  • 1997/98 season: immediate resurgence
  • 1998/99 season: 6th place (of 12 in the one-piece Bundesliga)
  • 1999/00 season: 7th place
  • 2000/01 season: 10th place
  • 2001/02 season: 10th place
  • 2002/03 season: 9th place
