Claudia Müller (born May 21, 1974 in Bremen ) is a former German soccer player . She is a trained insurance saleswoman .

Career

societies

Claudia Müller began playing soccer in the youth teams of the Eintracht Bremen club before moving to the club's women's department when she was around 14 years old. She was later in the 1996/97 season - the last in which the Bundesliga was two-pronged with a north and a south group - at Fortuna Sachsenroß Hannover . However, after winning the relegation, the club decided not to participate in the single-track Bundesliga for financial reasons.

She moved to SG Praunheim for the 1997/98 season . For this and the successor club 1. FFC Frankfurt , which was released in August 1998 from the women's soccer department , she completed 29 league games in which she scored 33 goals. This corresponds to an exceptionally high average of 1.13 goals per game.

She was then active for six seasons for WSV Wendschott and - after the integration of the entire WSV women's football team - its successor VfL Wolfsburg . Once again it was characterized by a remarkable hit rate. Müller played her last league game on May 22, 2005 against SC Freiburg .

National team

As a result of her consistently very good performances in everyday life in the league, she was appointed to the national team during her first season . Curiously, she scored her first international goal on her debut on August 27, 1996 in Lichtenvoorde with the 88th-minute goal for the 3-0 final against the Netherlands and her last goal in her last game. This was the final of the 2001 European Championship against the selection of the Swedes on July 7, 2001 in Ulm . Müller scored in the eighth minute of extra time with a golden goal to make it 1-0. It was her second European title after 1997. She also gained nationwide fame by pulling her jersey over her head in the course of the jubilation after the winning goal; the corresponding photo was printed half-page or on the front page in numerous newspapers.

Müller played a total of 45 international matches and scored 22 goals.
