Stefanie Gottschlich (born August 5, 1978 in Wolfsburg ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

societies

The trained clerk for office communication received her basic football training at SV Eischott . She later played in the Bundesliga for WSV Wendschott , whose women's football team was absorbed by VfL Wolfsburg in 2003.

National team

Gottschlich achieved their greatest success together with the national team when they won the 2003 World Cup . Gottschlich played in all six games at this tournament and scored one goal. In addition, she won the bronze medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney . In 2004 she was voted Lower Saxony's Footballer of the Year . On the occasion of winning the women's soccer World Cup in 2003, she was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf .

In the German national team , the defender was active 45 times and scored three goals.

After three cruciate ligament tears and a total of eight operations on her left knee, she ended her career in August 2006 at the age of 28 after a meniscus injury . In November 2006 she passed the exam to become a trainer with a B license.
