WXKS-FM ( Kiss 108 ) is a US music station from Boston , Massachusetts . The station is better known as Kiss 108 and is one of the best-known Top 40 stations in New England and the United States. WXKS-FM belongs to the market leader iHeartMedia and is the sister station of WJMN and WBWL. The medium wave station WXKS-AM, on the other hand, belongs to Bloomberg Radio and broadcasts "Business Talk".
WXKS-FM is licensed in Medford . It is broadcast with around 20 kW on VHF 107.9 MHz from downtown Boston. The transmitter transmits two HD radio channels .
history
In 1960 the station received the callsign WHIL-FM for the frequency 107.9 MHz. It was the VHF sister station of the Boston station WHIL on medium wave 1430 kHz. The broadcast was from the WHIL Tower near Wellington Circle, Medford. In the 1970s the station changed its callsign to WWEL-FM.
The station has been owned by iHearMedia since 2006 and broadcasts a program for newcomer artists on its HD2 channel.
The station also became known through the regular "Kiss Concerts" in which US-wide artists played for WXKS-FM. Morning DJ Matt Siegel has been in the Boston area since 1981, and his show became widespread US in the late 1990s .
