Waase is a part of the municipality of Ummanz and with 181 inhabitants the largest town on the island of Ummanz west of Rügen .
geography
Waase is located in the southwest of the island of Ummanz on the Baltic Sea and has been connected to the island of Rügen since 1901 by an approximately 250 meter long concrete bridge over which a paved road leads. Just as the entire island of Ummanz is very flat, Waase is only zero to three meters above sea level. All houses are essentially on the two main streets of Waase, with the place stretching north for over a kilometer.
traffic
The entire island of Ummanz - and thus Waase - can only be reached by car via the bridge between Waase and the island of Rügen. There are no fixed ferry connections between Waase and the island of Rügen . From Waase, two paved bike paths lead north and south-west.
Waase has a harbor with boat rental in the south. The place is connected to the other places on the island by single-lane roads and dirt roads .
