Wabet in the temple of Dendera |
A wabet also uabet is a small sanctuary with an upstream atrium within ancient Egyptian temples of Greco-Roman times . The cult room is separated from the atrium by a barrier wall with two columns . The room group is located next to the roof staircase of the temple.
The Wabet probably developed from the solar sanctuaries of the New Kingdom , which were attached to the million year houses . For the Egyptian New Year celebrations , the place served to unite the cult images with the sun disk .
