Waga Seishun no Arcadia: Mugen Kidō SSX ( Japanese わ が 青春 の ア ル カ デ ィ ア · 無限 軌道 SSX ) is an anime television series produced in 1982 that continues the animated film Waga Seishun no Arcadia , which was released in the same year . It belongs to the franchise for The Adventures of the Fantastic Space Pirate Captain Harlock , but contradicts the template in some places. Internationally, the series became known as Arcadia of My Youth: Endless Orbit SSX .

After the events in Arcadia of My Youth , Harlock and his friends, who have now been declared as outlaws by the Illumidas-occupied Earth government, are looking for a planet on which humanity can live freely. On the journey, however, they find out that the Illumidas have conquered other planets besides Earth. And these are not only used as a place of refuge, but here the friends have to escape the pursuers, as a bounty was offered by the Illumidas.

Production and publication

The series was created at Studio Toei Animation and directed by Tomoharu Katsumata . The character design was designed by Kazuo Komatsubara and the artistic direction was Iwamitsu Itō . Katsumi Itabashi and Kazutaka Miyatake were responsible for the mechanical design . The producers were Tadashi Matsushima and Yoshio Takami .

The 22 episodes of the anime were first shown from October 13, 1982 to March 30, 1983 by TBS in Japan. A French and an Italian dubbed version were shown several times on the respective television, while an English translation only appeared on commercial media.

The music in the series was composed by Shunsuke Kikuchi . The song Oretachi no Funade ( お れ た ち の 船 出 ) was used for the opening credits and the closing title was Harlock no Ballad ( ハ ー ロ ッ ク の バ ラ ー ド ). Both songs are sung by Ichirō Mizuki .
