Election to the House of Representatives in Nepal 2017

The election for the 2017 House of Representatives in Nepal took place on November 26, 2017 and December 7, 2017. This was the first election of the newly created lower house, the Pratinidhi Sabha , the Nepalese parliament according to the new constitution of 2015 .

The electoral alliance between the Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxist-Leninists) (CPN-UML), led by former Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Oli , and the Communist Party of Nepal - Maoist Center (CPN-MC), led by former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda “ Won the election. The Nepalese Congress Party (NC) of the previous Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba came in second.

On February 15, 2017, Khadga Prasad Oli was sworn in as the new Prime Minister. The interim parliament established in 2007 officially ended with the convening of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly on March 5, 2018. The National Assembly was elected a short time later in February 2018.
