Waibaidu Bridge
The Waibaidu Bridge ( Chinese 外 白 渡桥 , Pinyin Wàibáidù Qiáo ) is a bridge in Shanghai . Of the city's historic bridges, it is the only remaining truss bridge .
history
The Waibaidu Bridge was built by Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Co. and opened to traffic on January 20, 1908. It was the fourth bridge built by foreigners at this point. Its historic English name was The Garden Bridge ( The Garden Bridge ).
location
The Waibaidu Bridge spans the Suzhou River just before it flows into the Huangpu Jiang . It leads to the Bund and connects the two Shanghai inner city districts of Hongkou and Huangpu .

At night the bridge is illuminated with light emitting diodes . On the one hand, this should make the bridge more attractive and, on the other, it should save energy.
The bridge is one of the landmarks of Shanghai and is therefore often photographed.
