history

In 1855 , dean Franz Anton Vaßen inaugurated the Catholic orphanage on the site of the old electoral rent office . The street was previously also called Spülgasse. This name was traced back to the rinsing of the woolen fabrics in cloth manufacture. Wenzel Hollar also named the path as a rinsing alley in his 1634 map.

After the city church of St. Anna was destroyed in the air raid on November 16, 1944 , the Anna Emergency Church was housed in the orphanage. Today the building is used as a retirement home.
