The Wakadori Island ( Japanese わ か ど り 島 Wakadori-jima , German ' Young Bird Island ' ) is an island off the Prince Harald coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It is the largest of a group of three small islands 0.8 km northwest of Nakano-seto Strait .
Aerial photographs and measurements of a Japanese Antarctic expedition carried out from 1957 to 1962 were used to map them. Japanese scientists made the naming in 1972. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred this in 1975 in a partial translation into English.
