Wakate is an Indonesian sub-district ( Kecamatan ) in the administrative district ( Kabupaten ) Seram Bagian Timur of Maluku Province .

geography

Wakate is made up of the Watubela Islands . The main town is Utta ( Utah, Uta, Oeta ) on the island of Kasiui . The total area of ​​the islands is 55.6 km².

The sub-district is divided into nine Desa ("villages"): Utta, Tamher Timur ( Temeer Timur ), Tamher Barat ( Temeer Barat ), Kelangan ( Kalangan ) and Amar Laut ( Amarlaut ) on Kasiui, Ilili , Effa and Lahema on the island Watubela and Teor with the island of the same name. The uninhabited island of Ingar belongs to the Desa Ilili, the island of Kurkap to Tamher Timur and the islands of Baam and Uran to the Desa Teor.

Wakate used to belong to the Pulau Goram sub-district .
