The forest Bacher Walk Bridge is a bicycle traffic and pedestrian bridge in the district of Biesdorf of Marzahn-Hellersdorf .

history

The Waldbacher Weg Bridge was built as a temporary makeshift bridge construction in 1979 by the Deutsche Reichsbahn as an extension of the Waldbacher Weg over the Great Biesdorfer Curve ; this was actually intended to serve as a temporary measure until a later new road bridge was built in Waldbacher Weg. It was also a better alternative to an originally planned pedestrian tunnel . The bridge connects the two remaining parts of Waldbacher Weg with Schulstrasse and Braunsdorfer Strasse. The division of the Biesdorfer settlement by the railway line is the only connection to the settlement and the Otto-Nagel-Gymnasium for bicycle and foot traffic. The old temporary bridge will be maintained during the entire construction period. Many variants were examined in advance, then a decision was made to replace the Waldbacher Weg bridge. A new road bridge is planned for the settlement in the long term.

During a bridge inspection, considerable damage was found to the bridge, which impaired the load-bearing capacity and stability. The last general inspection in 2011 or 2014 gave the bridge a grade of 3.0. According to DIN 1076 , the condition grade 3.0 to 3.4 is defined as insufficient condition. Due to the building contractor , the condition of the building and the lack of barrier-free accessibility of the ramps leading to the building prompted planning for a new replacement for a bicycle and pedestrian bridge. The new bridge structure will be barrier-free for bicycle and pedestrian traffic, for the walking and visually impaired as well as for wheelchair users. The new bridge width is 3.00 meters. The replacement building will be built around 50 meters to the north.

Construction process

The replacement building will take 15 months.

1st construction phase

In October 2018, work began to create the construction clearance and the construction site equipment. In addition, there are tree felling and clearing work and the clearing of the construction site follows.

2nd construction phase

The replacement new building will be carried out in the second construction phase. The restoration of the bridge abutments takes place under the protection of excavation and embankment areas. Then the barrier-free ramps are made, including the construction of paths and stairs. During several days of track closure, the superstructure will be assembled using composite prefabricated construction. The old temporary bridge will be maintained during the replacement construction.

3rd construction phase

The new bridge will have a provisional connection to Schulstrasse. Bicycle and pedestrian traffic will be carried over the new bridge when the new building is completed.

4th construction phase

The old temporary bridge will be completely demolished while the track will be closed for several days. Then the adjacent ramps will be unsealed and rebuilt. The new bridge will remain in place during construction.

5th construction phase

In the fifth and last construction phase, the eastern ramp and thus the accessibility of the replacement new building will be completely completed. In addition, the permanent connection to Schulstrasse will be realized and the newly gained open space will be handed over to the Otto-Nagel-Gymnasium as a schoolyard extension. At the end of the construction work, greening and remaining work will be carried out.
