The Waldburg-Zeil clinics are the clinics of the house Waldburg-Zeil . The company is based in Neutrauchburg, a suburb of Isny im Allgäu in the Ravensburg district in Baden-Württemberg . In addition to the administration of the agricultural and forestry property, holdings in the Swabian and Allgäu newspaper publishers , the clinics developed into a focus of the economic activities of the Waldburg-Zeil company.
history
The spa operation started with the Schlossgasthof Sonne. It was built in 1686 by Countess Monika von Waldburg-Trauchburg together with the foundation of the Loretto Chapel. The first tenant , a beer brewer from Ochsenhausen , was given the right to accommodate guests, bake bread, sell salt, distill brandy and build a brewery at his own expense. In this way, the numerous pious visitors to the chapel were able to fortify themselves in the tavern next door after their devotions. In 1954 the Gasthaus zur Sonne had three guest rooms. In 1957 the first spa treatments took place in the restaurant zur Sonne. In 1958 the first patients were referred to the renamed spa facility Sonne Neutrauchburg, and a medical department was set up.
In 1963 the Alpenblick sanatorium was opened in Isny-Neutrauchburg. In the next few years other openings followed, including the Oberammergau Clinic in 1971 . In 1973 the new headquarters in Isny-Neutrauchburg was inaugurated. Numerous new buildings and extensions followed in the 1980s. In 2000 the specialist clinics in Wangen im Allgäu were taken over.
Around 3,000 employees handle over 60,000 cases every year. The Waldburg-Zeil clinics include 9 rehabilitation clinics, 2 specialist clinics with acute and rehabilitation medicine and 1 therapeutic exercise center with over 2,861 beds.
