Waldeck is a district of Kemnath , a town in the Upper Palatinate district of Tirschenreuth .
history
The place Waldeck, which was certainly created with the construction of the Veste Waldeck in 1124, was located on the south side of the Schlossberg. After the conflagration of 1794, the place on the north side was rebuilt, probably according to a design on the drawing board.
The former market town with the associated towns of Godas , Hahneneggaten and Teufelhammer was incorporated into Kemnath in the 1970s.
Attractions
The church of St. Johannes Nepomuk , which, according to the inscription above the entrance portal, was built in 1811 at the latest, has an interior that probably comes from another church.
Above the village lies the Waldeck castle complex with the Sankt Agidius castle chapel. The core of the castle is probably from the Middle Ages and largely dates from the 13th to 16th centuries. It was partly rebuilt after a fire.
