Waldemar Correa

Waldemar Correa († 1990 near San Juan , Argentina) was a Uruguayan cyclist .

Life

In 1981 Correa from Minas took eighth place in the Vuelta Ciclista del Uruguay . The following year he took part with the Uruguayan delegation at the South American Games in Argentina in 1982 . There he won the silver medal in the 4 × 100 kilometer competition alongside Federico Moreira , Ricardo Rondán and José Asconeguy . In 1983 he was part of the Uruguayan team at the 1983 Pan American Games in Caracas . In 1984 he took part in the Vuelta de Chile .

Correa, who started for Club Peñarol, died in 1990 during training near the Argentine city of San Juan , when he was preparing for the Vuelta de la Provincia San Juanina and was run over by a truck.

In Minas, a cycling event organized by the Club Ciclista Estación de Minas bears his name.
