José Asconeguy González , also known as José Asconegui (born May 14, 1963 in Trinidad , Uruguay ) is a former Uruguayan road cyclist .
At the South American Games in 1982 Asconeguy won the silver medal alongside Federico Moreira , Waldemar Correa and Ricardo Rondán in the 4x100 km time trial competition. Together with Waldemar Domínguez , Nazario Pedreira and Jorge Mansilla, he won a bronze medal in this discipline at the 1986 South American Games. Asconeguy also represented his home country at the Pan American Games in Caracas in 1983 and in Indianapolis in 1987 . Also took part in the 1988 Summer Olympics. At the Olympic road race in Seoul, the 1.87 meter tall Asconeguy called Pepe finished 46th. At that time the Club Ciclista Amanecer was run for him as a team. He is also a three-time overall winner of the Vuelta Ciclista del Uruguay (1985, 1987, 1993). In addition, he was able to decide in his favor in the overall ranking of the Rutas de América Tour in 1984, when he joined the Club Ciclista Belo Horizonte .
