Waldensian Church in Nordhausen

The Waldensian Church in Nordhausen , a district of Nordheim in the district of Heilbronn in northern Baden-Württemberg , was inaugurated in 1821 and replaced a previous wooden building. It belongs to the Evangelical Parish of Nordhausen in the Brackenheim parish of the Evangelical State Church in Württemberg .

history

Around 1700 Waldensians, expelled from the Val Chisone in Piedmont , settled in Nordhausen. From 1720/21 they used a simple wooden church. After this had become dilapidated and too small in 1820, today's church was built in 1821, a hall building set on a stone plinth in the classicism style with a slightly retracted lattice tower. The church is accessible through the basement of the tower on the south side. The choir area is on the north wall. The pulpit installed above the altar turns the otherwise simple church into a sermon church . A metal crucifix adorns the altar, and a woven carpet with the Waldensian coat of arms hangs over the pulpit .
