War winter (book)

Kriegswinter (Dutch: Oorlogswinter ) is a book by Jan Terlouw from 1972. The story is about 15-year-old Michiel, who lives in the fictional village of De Vlank , in North Veluwe . In the last winter of the Second World War, he became increasingly involved in illegal activities directed against the German occupiers.

The book was awarded the Gouden Griffel in 1973 , one of the main prizes for Dutch youth literature. In 1974 it appeared on the honor list of the Hans Christian Andersen Award . In 1975, a plot-based TV series of the same name was produced under the direction of Aart Staartjes . In 2008 the film adaptation “Oorlogswinter” (German: “ Mein Kriegswinter ”) was released in Dutch and Belgian cinemas. In 2012 the book was published in German translation.
