Forest hall
The forest hall was an excursion restaurant in the Granitz on Rügen in the district of Sellin . The building has not been preserved due to coastal erosion. The name is still used as a hallway designation for the area.
location
The area of the forest hall is located directly on the high bank hiking trail between Binz and Sellin and is still part of the Granitz hiking trail network under the name of Waldhalle. To the southwest is the Black Lake .
history
The excursion restaurant Waldhalle was built in 1888 as part of the emerging Baltic tourism. It was located on the 65 meter high Falkenberg on the steep bank of the Baltic Sea . From the location there is a wide view of Sassnitz and the chalk coast of Stubbenkammer . The building had to be abandoned and demolished in the 1980s after the coast continued to demolish. At the moment (as of 2017) there are still small remains of the foundations of the forest hall on the steep coast.
