The Black Lake is a lake on the Baltic island of Rügen . It belongs to the district of Sellin and is located in the Granitz forest and nature reserve .
The area of the lake is 23 hectares , its greatest depth 15 meters and the height of the lake level above sea level 54.2 m above sea level. NHN . The nutrient-poor lake belongs to the very rare type of water known as the Kesselsee.
In the edge area, intermediate bogs and raised bogs are formed . Partly there is a floating ceiling vegetation . Here are peat moss , cotton grass , Bogbean , cranberry and rosemary before.
The entire lake, the bogs along the edge and a 100 meter wide strip of forest surrounding the lake are designated as the core zone (total reserve) of the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve . For hikers and cyclists, however, the lake is accessible via the hiking trail leading from Binz to Sellin. You can get to the lake via a small wooden walkway.
