View of the forest clinics

The Waldkliniken Eisenberg are a specialist hospital for orthopedics and a hospital with a regional supply mandate in Eisenberg / Thuringia and an academic teaching hospital of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena .

history

In simple barracks and under the name “State Forest Hospital for Orthopedics”, Rudolf Elle opened today's forest clinics on August 1, 1945 on the outskirts of the small town of Eisenberg. In the early years around 1945, the forest hospital was mainly an alternative accommodation for the Jena University Clinics and was mainly used to treat disabled people .

After Elle's death in 1952, the forest hospital was given the addition of Rudolf Elle . His commitment contributed significantly to the fact that the forest hospital received the status of the teaching hospital for orthopedics of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena in 1978. In 1987 the foundation stone was finally laid for the construction of a six-storey bed block, which could be moved into in 1990. Further extensive renovation and new construction measures were carried out, with new functional buildings being built, which replaced the old wooden barracks that existed until 2006.

In 2018 the Waldklinikum was renamed Waldkliniken Eisenberg .
