Forest rope

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The forest rope was a Bohemian field and length measure. It was established in 1268 by royal orders. The reason was the complaints of the people, as there was a lot of fraud. Four barley grains placed next to each other were used as the basic measure .

The dimensional chain was

  • 1 hub field = 12 rods
  • 1 rod = 5 acres
  • 1 morning = 5 forest ropes
  • 1 forest rope = 42 cubits
  • 1 cubit = 3 spans
  • 1 span = 4 cross fingers
  • 1 cross finger = 4 barley grains

The bonnet had four different sizes in a ratio of 12: 11: 10: 8. In the order royal, ecclesiastical, noble and peasant, the civic hat was missing in the middle.

The forest rope was taken when measuring forest areas. There was also the land rope or the vineyard rope.
