Walentyna Iwaniwna Kowpan ( Ukrainian Валентина Іванівна Ковпан ; born February 28, 1950 in Petroostriw , Ukrainian SSR ; missing since May 12, 2006 in Lviv ) is a former Soviet archer .

Career

Walentyna Kowpan took in 1,976 Montreal at the Olympic Games in part. With 2460 points, she finished second behind Luann Ryon and thus received the silver medal. At world championships she was with the Soviet team in 1973 in Grenoble and 1975 in Interlaken world champion, she also secured silver in the individual competition. In 1973 and 1978 she was the Soviet individual champion and 1970 and 1974 with the team. After her active career, she worked as a dentist. She has been missing since May 12, 2006, and the police are assuming a failed kidnapping.
