Valeri Dmitrijewitsch Sorkin ( Russian Валерий Дмитриевич Зорькин ; born February 18, 1943 in Konstantinovka, Primorye Region ) is a Russian lawyer and has been President of the Constitutional Court since March 2003 , he held this office once from August 1991 to October 1993.

Life

In his capacity as constitutional judge, he voted several times against decisions by the then Russian President Boris Yeltsin .

In November 2010 he described the reintroduction of the death penalty in Russia as " excluded " and justified this with international agreements.
