Valery Pavlovich Babanov

Valery Babanov (also Valery Babanov ; Russian Валерий Павлович Бабанов ; * 10. November 1964 in Omsk , Russia SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian climber , in particular for the climbing of peaks above the 7000-m-limit and its climbing with particularly high levels of difficulty is known.

Life

He started climbing in 1980. His successes also include several first ascents and speed records. He is married and lives in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, France . He was among other twice with the Piolet d'Or award, most recently with his compatriot Yuri Koschelenko for the ascent of Nuptse I Shar .
