The Wallace Bridge (also known as Nimrod Bridge ) is a historic road bridge in Perry County , in the US state of Arkansas , in the United States . The bridge is located at 18 Perry County Road and spans the Fourche LaFave River . It is crossed by an average of 40 vehicles per day (as of 1987).
The bridge, completed in 1909, has a span of 54.9 meters, the length is 64.9 meters and the width 4.9 meters. The foundation is made of concrete , the bridge itself is made of steel . The construction is based on Parker truss (Camelback) .
In January 2009 a truck damaged the bridge and broke through the wooden floor while crossing it. The bridge was therefore closed for a long time.
According to the National Register of Historic Places , the bridge had historical relevance from 1900 to 1924, from 1925 to 1949 and from 1950 to 1974, with 1908 and 1958 as specific years.
The Wallace Bridge was on 1 August 2008 by the National Register of Historic Places added under number 08000724 as a historical monument.
