The settlement was favored by a ford over the Rhine. The place Walabuck is first mentioned in 1283. Wallbach has always had close ties to the Swiss community of the same name on the other side of the Rhine.

On April 1, 1972, Wallbach was incorporated into the city of Säckingen.

The nationally known garbage museum , which has existed since December 3, 1991, is also located in Wallbach . The basis for the collection was the activity as a bulldozer driver , which the founder carried out on a landfill.

Wallbach is close to the Hochrheinbahn .
