Pilgrimage festivals (Judaism)
The pilgrimage festivals in Judaism are the three celebrations of joy ( Hebrew shalosh regalim ) Passover , Shavuot and Sukkot .
These are the three old harvest festivals in Judea / Israel, on which the Jews traditionally made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem and made offerings from the field yields. The biblical basis for these festivals can be found in Ex 23 EU and Dtn 16 EU . Already in the Torah it becomes clear how the old harvest festivals were interpreted and related to salvation events in the (pre-) history of Israel .

The festivals are of rural and probably Canaanite origin and have a dual historical and agricultural character.
