The parish and pilgrimage church Stadl-Paura is in the market town of Stadl-Paura in Upper Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church of the Holy Trinity belongs to the Deanery Gaspoltshofen in the Diocese of Linz . The pilgrimage church is a listed building .

history

In 1713 there was a plague epidemic in Austria. Maximilian Pagl , who was born in Stadl-Paura and was abbot of Lambach Monastery at the time , vowed that he would have a very special church built should one be spared this epidemic. The baroque church was built on the Pauraberg between 1714 and 1724 with the Linz master builder Johann Michael Prunner . The church was consecrated with the Passau prince-bishop Johann Philipp von Lamberg on July 29, 1725.

On the occasion of the 275th anniversary, the building was extensively renovated.

architecture

The three as a symbol of the Trinity dominates the architecture. The church has three towers, three altars, three organs, three half-domes, three marble portals - and the floor plan itself is triangular.

The stucco work comes from Johann Georg and Franz Josef Holzinger .

The South Bohemian Baroque pilgrimage and Trinity Church in Trhové Sviny is also triangular in shape.

Furnishing

The church is decorated with paintings by Martino Altomonte , Carlo Carlone and Domenico Parodi .

All three altars are used - three times a year the seating arrangement, the entrance portal and the direction of the believers change. This depends on the respective festival circle: at the beginning of Advent looking towards the Christmas altar (birth of Christ), with the beginning of Lent looking towards the Easter altar (crucifixion of Christ) and from Pentecost (the rest of the church year) towards the Trinity altar (God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit).

Rectory

The rectory was also built by Prunner and is difficult to maintain. The original use was an orphanage, then as a home for handicapped children and later as a boarding school for priest students.
