Wally Lamb (born October 17, 1950 in Norwich , Connecticut ) is an American writer , educator and lecturer .

Life

Wally Lamb grew up in Connecticut, initially studying education at the University of Connecticut and then teaching English at a high school in Norwich. He began writing in 1981 and also graduated from Vermont College with a degree in writing . He later headed the Creative Writing Department in the English Department at the University of Connecticut. From 1999, he led writing classes at York Women's Prison, Connecticut. From these experiences the book Written by the soul: Wally Lamb and the women of the maximum security prison was born .

Lamb lives in Connecticut, USA with his wife and three sons.
