The Walsh Bluff is a rock cliff north of the mouth zone of Abbotsmith glacier on the west side of Heard Island in the southern Indian Ocean .
It was mapped in 1948 by participants in the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions . The Australian Nature Conservation Agency (ANCA) named it after the meteorologist JE Walsh, who was stationed on the island as part of the 1950 and 1954 expeditions and took care of sled dogs there in 1951 .
