Vassilis Lakis ( Greek Βασίλης Λάκης , born September 10, 1976 in Thessaloniki ) is a former Greek football player .

Career

In July 1992, Lakis moved from the U20 from FAS Naousa to the first team. Here he played until 1996 and then moved to Paniliakos Pyrgos. After two seasons he left the club in the summer of 1998. He then played from 1998 to 2004 at AEK Athens . With the team he won the cup in Greece in 2000 and 2002.

From July 2004 to January 2005 he was without a club. In January 2005 he finally moved to England in the Premier League at Crystal Palace. In July of the same year, Lakis returned to his old place of work. So he played again from 2005 to 2007 at AEK Athens.

After stints at PAOK Thessaloniki (2007-2009) and AO Kavala (2009-2010) , he ended his career in the Super League in his native Greece.

National team

With the U21, Lakis took part in the U-21 European Football Championship in Romania in 1998 . The team from Greece was able to achieve 2nd place behind Spain .

He made his senior national team debut on February 23, 2000 in a friendly against Austria . Lakis came on as a substitute for Dimitrios Mavrogenidis at the second half . He was also able to finish this game. He scored the fourth goal for Greece in the 90th minute in the 4-1 win.

Lakis was part of the squad that won the 2004 European Football Championship in Portugal . In the tournament he came to two missions. In the opening game against Portugal and in the quarter-finals against France , he came to the train.

At the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup in Germany , it was once again part of the Greek squad. He played his last game for the national team on August 17, 2005 in a friendly against Belgium . The game ended 0-2 for Belgium.
