Theofanis "Fanis" Katergiannakis ( Greek Θεοφάνης "Φάνης" Κατεργιαννάκης , born February 16, 1974 in Thessaloniki , Greece ) is a former Greek football goalkeeper .

Career

Katergiannakis switched from youth to the first team of Ethnikos Pyleas in 1993. After the 1993/1994 season he switched to Aris Thessaloniki. Here he played eight years in the Super League , the top division in Greece. He was also able to make his debut in international club football in the 1999/2000 season. In the UEFA Cup , in the 1st round against Servette Geneva from Switzerland. He was eliminated with Aris in the 2nd round against Spanish club Celta Vigo .

In the summer of 2002, Katergiannakis moved within the league to Olympiacos. In his first season in 2002/2003 with Olympiakos, he won the championship. In the following season 2003/2004, he played for the first and only time in the UEFA Champions League . He played 4 of 6 games in Group D for Olympiacos. After the season he left the club.

For the 2004/2005 season he joined the Italian first division club Cagliari Calcio. He made his debut in Serie A , the top division in Italy, on September 12, 2004, the first matchday. In the 1-0 win against FC Bologna , he was on the field for over 90 minutes.

On July 1, 2005, he moved back to Greece to Iraklis Thessaloniki. There he was under contract until the summer of 2007. Afterwards, Katergiannakis did not find a new club and was without a club until summer 2008.

The 2nd league team AO Kavala then took him under contract. In the 2008/2009 season, he was immediately promoted from the Football League , the second division in Greece. Until the end of his career in the summer of 2011, he played with Kavala in the Greek football club.

National team

Katergiannakis debuted on 17 November 1999 for the senior team of the Greeks. In the 1-0 win against Bulgaria , he came on in the 78th minute for Antonios Nikopolidis . He was part of the 23-man squad that won the title at the 2004 European Football Championship in Portugal . However, remained as the third goalkeeper without use.
