Walter Alwens

Edmund Walter Johannes Daniel Alwens (born June 24, 1880 in Kirchheim am Neckar ; † June 27, 1966 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German internist.

He was senior physician at the Medical Clinic in Frankfurt am Main and from 1909 head of the X-ray department. In 1921 he became associate professor at the University of Frankfurt and director of the department for internal medicine at the municipal hospital in Frankfurt. After the Second World War he was the first senior physician at the Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen Municipal Hospital . In 1950 he retired.

Alwens dealt with tuberculosis and X-ray diagnostics and worked on the manual of internal medicine (2nd edition, volume 4).
