Walter Ameling (electrical engineer)

Walter Werner Ameling (born March 10, 1926 in Bornholte ; † August 15, 2010 in Aachen ) was a German electrical engineer. He was a full professor for general electrical engineering and data processing systems at RWTH Aachen University .

Career

Ameling completed his studies in 1959 with a doctorate in engineering. from. After his habilitation in 1962, he became a private lecturer in theoretical electrical engineering on May 15, 1962 and a lecturer on August 23, 1962. On October 21, 1965, he was appointed full professor for general electrical engineering and data processing systems at RWTH Aachen University, and on January 1, 1987, university professor. At the same time he was director of the Rogowski Institute for Electrical Engineering from 1965 and vice-rector of the university from 1969 to 1970. He retired on April 1, 1991. He was the frigate captain of the reserve.

The former computer museum in Aachen emerged from his interest in the history of his subject .

Walter Ameling was married and was the father of the historian Walter Ameling .
