The Walter Blüchert Foundation is a German foundation . It promotes social participation and stands up for people who are in need through no fault of their own. history

Portrait of Walter F. Blüchert (1920–2007)

In the 1950s, Blüchert successfully built up the Blüchert Verlag , which among other things secured the German rights to Walt Disney publications in the non-comic area. Blüchert later worked as a consultant and broker for large printing and media companies. He got to know Thielen while working for Bertelsmann . From 2002 to 2007 he was CEO of the Gütersloh media and service group. Over the years, a friendly relationship developed between Blüchert and Thielen in addition to their professional collaboration. Long before his death in 2007, Thielen was asked by Blüchert to act as the executor of his will .

Thielen then called the foundation into being. After he left the Bertelsmann Stiftung Executive Board in 2013, the Walter Blüchert Stiftung began its work under his chairmanship. From the beginning it was one of the financially strongest German foundations. In the early days, the Walter Blüchert Foundation concentrated primarily on promoting the education of disadvantaged children and young people. In the following years she extended her commitment to include single parents and refugees.

organization

Gunter Thielen (2015), Chairman

The foundation is a legal foundation under civil law with its statutory seat in Hamburg and its administrative seat in Gütersloh. It is led by a board of directors whose most important task is the development of projects in accordance with the statutes and their financing from the foundation's assets in order to achieve the foundation's purpose. Gunter Thielen is the chairman of the committee, and Ingrid Kramer is his deputy. The board of trustees is made up of the lawyer and notary Reto Mengiardi. He oversees the business of the board of directors.

The foundation exclusively pursues charitable purposes within the meaning of the tax code . According to the statutes, its purpose includes the "promotion of welfare , child, youth and elderly care as well as education, national and vocational training, including student aid". It realizes its goals by improving the living conditions of individuals who need help as a result of their physical, mental or emotional condition or their economic hardship.

Programs

Overcoming social barriers is at the heart of the foundation's work. She advocates permeable, supportive and promoting structures that enable everyone to participate fairly in social and economic life. To this end, it promotes, develops and disseminates best practices . Your unique selling point is that the projects are carried out in partnership with federal states, municipalities and organizations.

The foundation is currently involved in four strategic projects: “Angekommen” is developing a future perspective for young refugees and newcomers. "Hochform" supports academics with refugee status. "Wir2" trains single parents and their children. "Was geht" is a competence platform for young schoolchildren. In addition, the Walter Blüchert Foundation has funded eight projects that have now been completed. This included “Abakus”, a project for traumatized children and young people with disabilities. The Walter Blüchert Foundation was also involved in “ Balu und Du ”.
