Walter Blümel

Walter Blümel (born May 3, 1921 in Trautenau , Czechoslovakia , † January 22, 1997 in Leonberg ) was a German painter , sculptor and poet .

Life

Blümel completed an apprenticeship as a painter in 1938 and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna during the Second World War . After moving into his first studio in Leonberg in 1946, from 1948 he studied as a master student with the important artist Willi Baumeister .

From an artistic point of view, Blümel was particularly connected to the field of tension between man and technology and tried to give expression to this in abstract images as well as images reminiscent of technical drawings, in sculptures and poems.
