Walter bomb

Walter Ulrich Eduard Bombe (born May 24, 1873 in Berlin ; † 1946 ) was a German art historian .

Life

Walter Bombe attended the Gymnasium zum Grauen Kloster up to Obersekunda, then did a commercial apprenticeship and worked for Deutsche Bank in Berlin for six years. After completing his school leaving examination at Easter 1900, he studied art history at the University of Berlin and received his doctorate there on July 25, 1904 under Heinrich Wölfflin . From 1904 to 1912 he worked as an assistant at the art history institute in Florence, after his habilitation he worked as a private lecturer at the University of Münster from 1910 , from 1914 as a private lecturer at the University of Bonn . On December 20, 1918, he received the title of professor there, but on April 1, 1919, he renounced his private lecturer status.

Since the 1920s he was the partner of the painter Lotte B. Prechner (1877–1967) and lived in Cologne .
