Walter Eschler

Walter Eschler (born August 23, 1909 in Zweisimmen ; † December 12, 1997 in Bern ) was a Swiss writer .

Life

Walter Eschler completed by the end of his schooling only be Welschland year and began thereafter in Yverdon District an apprenticeship as a banker . After graduation, he worked for 13 years as a bank clerk in Langnau in the Emmental before he became a general agent for a Swiss mobile insurance company in 1942. In 1964 he became a magistrate, but had to give up this office prematurely in 1969 because of an eye disease. From then on he worked as a freelance writer.

The subject of his works were mainly the country and people of the Obersimmental , with whom he was in lively exchange due to his professional activity. In his works he often played with the juxtaposition of Obersimmental dialect and other dialects from the canton of Bern .
