Walter Gropp

Walter Gropp (born April 21, 1952 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German lawyer.

Gropp studied law at the Universities of Mannheim and Tübingen . After completing his doctorate with Albin Eser in Tübingen in 1980 , he received a habilitation grant from the German Research Foundation . He completed teaching and research stays at the Law School of the University of Wisconsin in the USA, the University of Szeged in Hungary, at the Dokuz-Eylül University in Izmir and the Kültür University in Istanbul . In 1990 he completed his habilitation at the University of Freiburg . After serving as a professor at the University of Göttingen , he was appointed full professor for criminal law, criminal procedure law and comparative criminal law at the University of Leipzig in 1993 . Since 1998 he has been a full professor at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen .
