Walter Hauck (singer)

Walter Hauck (born March 17, 1910 in Böhl ; † 1991 ) was a German concert and opera singer (lyric baritone).

Life

After graduating from high school in Ludwigshafen, Hauck began studying at the Technical University of Darmstadt , before he began studying music for four years at the University of Music in Berlin in 1932, where he was a student of Julius von Raatz-Brockmann . Further training in singing followed in 1938/39 with Emmi Leisner and in 1940/41 at the Berlin Opera School Klindworth-Scharwenka. In 1941 he sang the part of Count Luna in Giuseppe Verdi's Troubadour at the Stadttheater Cottbus, where he remained under contract until 1944. Other vocal parts during this time were the title role in Mozart's Don Giovanni , Fluth in Otto Nicolai's Lustigen Weiber von Windsor and the Dr. Malatesta in Don Pasquale .

As a singing teacher, Hauck taught at the music academy in Berlin from 1968. His students included Bruno Pola , Tanja Berg and Wolf Appel , among others .

As early as 1935, Hauck made his radio debut as a singer, with whom he remained connected for a long time as a singer and speaker. He also worked as a voice actor from 1946 .
