Walter Hennig

Walter Hennig (* 1903 in Zöblitz ; † September 4, 1965 in Pforzheim ) was a German church musician and composer .

Life

Walter Hennig was accepted into the Leipzig St. Thomas Choir at the age of nine because of his above-average musical talent . He sang in numerous performances at home and abroad under the Thomaskantors Gustav Schreck and Karl Straube . Hennig received his first position as cantor in Zwickau . From there he went to Leipzig and in 1933 to Pforzheim, where he worked until his death as cantor , church music director and regional chairman of the Evangelical Church Music Association. In addition to numerous chorale auditions and arrangements, Walter Hennig devoted himself to composing ecumenical choral movements, cantatas for a wide variety of ensembles and folk songs.
